Trade Fair Now Twin Value Marketplace

My top-notch sources do indeed confirm this evening that the sign is up – the former Trade Fair on Queens Blvd. will now be known as Twin Value Marketplace.

Supposedly, it is owned by Key Food. Hopefully, it is a better version?? 🙂

Is the new supermarket related to Twin Donut?

From what I hear it is actually owned by the same people who own Key Food.

Yes, true value is a KeyFood subsidiarry but each key food is ofcourse, independently owned and operated. Thats problematic.

Example- the KF on Q Blvd across from the Midway is owned by middle eastern independents and the prices are very high and they purpossly take things off shelves when Key Food advertses them as loss leaders.

Conversely, the KF at Yellowstone and Q Blvd is spottless, well stocked and owned by the Dans Supreme chain.

The KF at Yellowstone and Q Blvd is not spotless, it’s kind of musty and does not meet the standards of a modern supermarket. The location is a stone’s throw from Parker Towers–it’s only virtue. Business is slow, the line waits are short–I guess that’s a second virtue.

The KF on QB near Union Tpke subway stop was redone a few year ago and it’s not bad. The prices are lower and they have the sadvertised sale items. For example, a quart of milk at the Union Tpke store is $.99 (same as Trade Fair/Associated; probably a loss leader) but is $1.19 at the KF across from the Midway. Although it is a longer walk home and I live close to the Trade Fair/Associated/Twin Value, I have been going to the Union Tpke store. After nearly 6 months of being closed, TF/A/TV will have lost business as shoppers make other choices and stick with them.

KF on Q Blvd across from the Midway may be more expensive, but it is clean and usually well stocked and it’s convenient to get to. KF at Yellowstone and Q Blvd is not so inviting; it looks a little dirty to me. From the outside, the new Twin Value looks promising (the bricks and green awnings remind me of the little organic store on one of the side streets), but only time will tell. Does anyone know when T-V opens? Only other advice: Go to Trader Joe’s. Take the bus or get a good workout/constitutional by walking there and back.

The keyfood across from the midway is a ripoff .Shoppers beware, the registers never ring up the right price. Also the deli dept tried to sell me 1 lb of turkey for $14.00

You are so right. Watch out at Keyfood, they are totally a ripoff. They usually overcharge you on many items, especially sales items. I am very disappointed that this new Twin Value store is a low end Key Food. I was really looking forward to it being an Associated, their prices are good. Time will tell.
