Tennis Stadium Meeting Scheduled for Today
The West Side Tennis Club is supposed to hold an informational meeting for its members today on the future of the Tennis Stadium. Published reports said that during the meeting local real estate developer Cord Meyer will present its plan for the construction of a residential development on the land where the Stadium now sits. The destruction of Forest Hills’ most famous landmark would have to be approved by two thirds of the Club’s members. The vote is scheduled for August 19th.
New Working Parents Playgroup
One of my readers asked if I could publicize his new meet-up group for local working parents and their kids. Here is the description:
“After some discussions on the Queens Central Message board, it seemed like we needed a group for working parents to meet, talk and ideally get together. All families are welcome to join! This is a chance to meet other parents in the neighborhood and get a chance to let the little ones meet other kids. In addition, the existing activities seem to be centered around children with at least one stay at home parent. We’d like this group to appeal to families where the parent (s) are full time employed. We will try to do our meet ups and activities around times that cater to the working family.”
