Forest Hills Datebook

August 15, 2010 Leave a comment

Just a a couple of dates I have heard about hear and there:

  • I have read that Common, the new tapas lounge in the Austin St. Mall will open this Wednesday. But I have not had a chance to confirm that myself yet, so if you go there all ready for your tappi and it is still closed, please don’t harass me!
  • The vote by the West Side Tennis Club on whether to accept Cord Meyer’s proposal to destroy the historic tennis stadium to make room for condos has been rescheduled for late September, I believe Sept. 23rd, to apparently make sure all the members are back from their summer vacations.

Tennis Stadium Update

So Koslowitz is doing slightly better when it comes to getting on board the movement to save the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, but…. she just can’t seem to get up the nerve to do the right thing yet, can she? I love this quote: “We’re not calling for landmarking — we just want to talk about the feasibility of landmarking.”  Here is the full article from a few days ago: Forest Hills pols want stadium talks

Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz

See my previous posts for background on our Councilwoman’s sad, sad job as a representative of all the local businesses and residents of Forest Hills, who only would benefit from a revitalized Stadium and not its destruction to make room for some “senior housing” as she offered up as a viable proposal a few weeks ago.

As if Forest Hills needs to make room for more seniors? If anything, we need to make room for more young people who will bring some fresh thinking to this community!
