Off-topic, but I’ve just gone through over a dozen pages after finding out about this blog for the first time. Please write something up on Ripe in the Austin mall! It is a GODSEND for folks in the neighborhood who love eating healthy.

I’m quite familiar with Ripe – I have ordered from them many times, though not recently. I find their stuff ok, but to tell you the truth I grew a little tired of it. Some of the food is overly seasoned and I kind of got turned off it after a while. And their salads were, yes, very healthy, but kind of dry and didn’t have me wanting to come back to them again and again. I don’t know – Ripe, I can take it or leave it, I am sort of in between on them. That’s why I have not added them to the Restaurants page on the blog. But, hey, if you are a big big fan, please go ahead and add them by commenting on the Restaurants page from the top menu of the blog. Thanks.

Thank you for posting these photos. I grew up in Forest Hills and it helped to “say goodbye” to the trees that were part of my childhood [I was married in the Jewish Center, bought my first car in “Luby”chevrolet – played in the meadow that became Parker Towers] – most people don’t understand, but the Forest Hills trees were our touchstones.
Here’s a thought – when the park on Queens Boulevard is restored, it would be nice to have a section planted in honor of Aline. I think that she should be remembered as the loss of losses – if this idea resonates, let me know – I’m sure that many of us would want to contribute.

    Hi Deborah,
I think the idea about a section for Aline in a restored MacDonald Park is a great one.
